she seems to be all but forgotten today.\u00a0 I was able to find some online references to her performing around 1907 and also of her performing on radio over the BBC in the early 1920s.\u00a0\u00a0 There is a YouTube video featuring one of her other records which states in its description that she was a pupil of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Francesco_Berger\" target=\"_blank\">Francesco Berger<\/a>.\u00a0 But that video is the only source I could find for that piece of information.\u00a0 She did make quite a few recordings for the British Homochord label &#8211; a 1925 Homochord catalog that I found in an online archive lists a total of 30 sides.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Paraphrase de Concert&#8221; is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Franz_Liszt\" target=\"_blank\">Franz Liszt&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0 1859 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reduction_%28music%29\" target=\"_blank\">piano reduction<\/a> of &#8220;Bella figlia dell\u2019amore&#8221; from Act 3 of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Giuseppe_Verdi\" target=\"_blank\">Giuseppe Verdi&#8217;s<\/a> 1851 opera <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rigoletto\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Rigoletto<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Grande Valse In E&#8221; is the waltz from German-Jewish composer <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moritz_Moszkowski\" target=\"_blank\">Moritz Moszkowski&#8217;s<\/a> 1884 &#8220;Trois Morceaux&#8221; (Opus 34 No 1).<\/p>\n<p>The Homochord label and its parent company, British Homophone, was the British affiliate of the Berlin based Homophon Company GmbH which issued the Homokord and Homocord labels in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>If anybody has additional information about Gertrude Meller, I would be interested in knowing about it.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Paraphrase de Concert&#8221;
