You&#8217;re In Kentucky Sure As You&#8217;re Born]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Savoy Orpheans were based out of London&#8217;s <a title=\"Wikipedia Article\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Savoy_Hotel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Savoy Hotel<\/a> between 1923 and 1927.\u00a0\u00a0 The band was founded and directed by <a title=\"Debroy Somers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.achart.ca\/articles\/york\/somers.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Debroy Somers<\/a> who resigned in 1926.\u00a0 Direction of the band eventually passed to <a title=\"Wikipedia Article\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carroll_Gibbons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carroll Gibbons<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The Orpheans broke up in 1927 when their contract with the Savoy expired.\u00a0 Gibbons then formed a new band for the hotel, the Savoy Hotel Orpheans.<\/p>\n<p>One of the members of the first Savoy Orpheans band was an American saxophone player &#8211;
